VDR100 - Formatting USB drives larger than 32GB

We recommend using this procedure for USB flash drives 32GB or larger. This will prepare the USB drive into the required Ext4 formatting that the VDR100 requires.

2 USB Flash Drive Formatting Instructions
To perform this formatting process, we will require a Windows® PC with an active internet connection and the new USB flash drive that is to be used exclusively for the VDR100’s recorded data.
** This procedure will format the drive and delete all contents. Please back up any necessary files before proceeding.
- Download and install the utility AOMEI Partition Assistant Standard Edition

- Insert your VDR100 USB Drive into your PC and locate it on the main window of the AOMEI Partition Assistant utility.
- Select your USB Drive by first left-clicking once to highlight, then right-click to provide a drop-down menu selection of options. On the drop-down menu list select the feature Format Partition.
- When the Format Partition window appears, locate under the File System option Ext4.
Press OK, in the lower right-hand corner of the window.
- You will now be returned to the main overview screen.
Select Apply in the upper left-hand corner.
- Confirm your settings and select Proceed.
- Select Yes to initiate the formatting.
- The larger the USB drive, the longer the formatting process will take.
On the Operation Progress window, it should provide an estimated time for completion.
- Once the operation is completed, you will receive a confirmation window. Select OK.
- The process window will now close and navigate back to the Disk Overview window.
Review the status of the drive you have recently formatted to verify it is now set to Ext4.
- Re-insert the USB drive back into the VDR100 and review the status on your N2KAnalyzer or Maretron DSM Series display.
