How close can I install wires to the SSC200 before I start adversely affecting the compass?

Small wires carrying small currents (less than 1 amp) should be kept at least 18 inches away from the SSC200 and even further if practical, while larger wires with large currents need to be even further away from the compass. Additionally, after the compass has been calibrated for magnetic deviation, ferrous metals (for example, tool boxes or tackle boxes) should not be moved close to the compass.
