I see that Maretron’s DSM150, DSM200, and DSM250 displays have a GPS100 configuration setting called "Cold Start GPS Engine"; what is this?

Maretron’s DSM150, DSM200, and DSM250 displays have a GPS100 configuration setting called "Cold Start GPS Engine", which is used to force the GPS100 to forget what it knew the last time it acquired a lock and to start a new position fix by reacquiring all necessary information from the GPS satellites..
