magnetic bearing

manufacturer identification code
In the NMEA 0183 standard, a three character manufacturer identifier, usually an acronym derived from the company name, which has been approved and is listed in Appendix III, for use by a manufacturer as part of the address field in formulation of proprietary sentences.

Mercator map projection
A conformal cylindrical map projection in which the surface of a sphere or spheroid, such as earth, is conceived as developed on a cylinder tangent along the equator. In the NMEA 0183 standard, a message consists of 2 or more sentences with the same sentence formatter. Messages are used when 2 or more sentences are needed to convey related data that exceeds the maximum sentence length. This only applies to those sentence formatters that are defined with the key fields supporting multi-sentence messages.
