What is magnetic variation?

The difference in direction between the magnetic North pole (magnetic North) and the direction to the Earth's rotational North pole (true North) is referred to as variation. Variation changes depending where you are on the Earth and can be obtained from charts, or alternatively, from a Maretron GPS antenna/receiver (GPS200).
