The intermediate Swing Meter (Rate of Turn) system includes Maretron’s solid state compass (SSC200), which provides Rate of Turn information. This system also includes a GPS antenna/receiver (GPS200) which provides magnetic variation based on the vessel’s position. The magnetic variation is combined with the magnetic heading within the display to provide the user with true heading.
In addition to rate of turn, magnetic heading, and vessel attitude (i.e., pitch and roll) is provided by the compass and available for viewing on the display.
The following table shows the major components included within this example system plus a list of the information or data available for display.
