Selene 5906

Yacht Systems NW

The original system installation started in November 2007. It was mainly navigation instruments with four DSM250's around the vessel and a complete backbone run throughout. At the 2009 Seattle boat show, Carl Gulledge (owner) visited the Maretron booth and was impressed with the new vessel monitoring equipment that we were releasing. One of the huge selling points was that it added onto his existing system and would require nothing to be torn out or replaced. The DSM250 screens could be updated and would now show all the monitoring data. N2KView® was also up and running and he could now use his computer to see all the data in whatever screen configuration he preferred.

Just the simple fact that it was NMEA2000® meant that Yacht Systems NW only needed to add a tee and the new devices. Since they had completed the original install, they knew where the NMEA2000® trunk line was and where the best points to add to it were.

Added to the navigation system were vessel monitoring abilities for AC and DC power, tanks, and safety devices such as bildge pumps and highwater alarms.

Carl has been to the Selene Rendezvous' were the upgraded system was admired. He has also just returned from an 11 week trip up to Alaska and back. “Everything worked great and the alarms worked so well that my wife asked me to turn off a few,” Carl said. I asked Carl why he looked at Maretron at the start of his system outfit and he said, “I liked that it was based on the NMEA2000® open standard and could see the future abilities and products that could and did come out for this line.”
In the last two years, Maretron has added ten vessel monitoring products to their product line. Maretron now offers a full line of products capable of doing everything from basic navigation to the most sophisticated vessel monitoring applications.

Yacht Systems is located in the Seattle area and has been installing Maretron products on vessels for over three years. They are very knowledgeable on the product line and have really embraced the thought process of the add-on systems. When I asked Carl about his on-going experiences with Yacht Systems he had a big smile on his face and said, “They are wonderful to work with and have done a great job. They also understand this equipment very well, and since they have installed the backbone everywhere - it is really quick to add a device.”
