Small wires carrying small currents (less than 1 amp) should be kept at least 18 inches away from the SSC200 and even further if practical where larger wires with large currents need to be even further. Additionally, after the compass has been deviated, ferrous metals should not be moved close to the compass for example tool boxes or tackle boxes.
