Maretron's DSM200 and DSM250 displays have a WSO100 configuration setting called "Wind Data Damping Period:", which is used to smooth the wind speed and direction information transmitted from the WSO100. The WSO100 is an extremely sensitive device and can provide very rapidly changing readings, however you can filter or dampen these rapidly changing values by using this configuration setting. You should be aware that damping or filtering does introduce a latency or delay in time since several past readings are being averaged to display the current value. Increasing the damping period smoothes the reading but also increases the latency.
